Irish country music icon LOUISE MORRISSEY is returning to the airwaves with a new single that has the potential to be one of the Tipperary legend’s biggest yet. In fact, given the song's defiant theme of hope and resilience,
coupled with the timing of its release, WE RISE AGAIN could well prove to be one of the most meaningful moments of an already glittering career. "For me," states Louise, "this is a song that reminds us all that we can rise above anything. And, maybe even more importantly than just that, that we can rise again after anything. And it delivers that message in such a beautiful and powerful way. God knows, too, the road that we've all been on for the last year and a half or so, it's been a tough one. So I really think this song - and that whole idea of finding it within ourselves to rise again after a setback - that's exactly what people need to hear right now. People need to be reminded of what's possible." Written by Leon Dubinsky, a multi-talented Canadian who found fame as an actor but also works as a theatre director and composer, WE RISE AGAIN became a staple of his home country's pop scene back in the 90s. Recorded by folk group The Rankin Family, the track featured on their 1993 long-player, North Country, becoming a crossover hit by reaching the Top 20 on the RPM (a Canadian music industry publication, 1964 2000) pop charts, and the Top 40 in the country equivalent.
Louise's version of WE RISE AGAIN, expertly produced by her long-time friend and musical collaborator Peter Maher, was brought to her attention by another friend of long-standing, Paul Egan. He knew it was the kind of song that would instantly win a place in her heart, and crucially, he was also certain that Louise was the perfect voice to share this message with a world on a seemingly endless search for hope of late. "When Paul sent it onto me, I knew straight away that it was a record I wanted to cut. I fell in love with how it feels as an anthem. It's almost like a great gospel powerhouse of old," recalled Louise. "Music is always finding ways to remind us of its mystery and its beauty. And WE RISE AGAIN is another instance of that. This song, written by a Nova Scotian back in the 80s, and originally as part of a stage-musical would you believe, has the kind of magic in it that means it can still be a beacon of hope for all of us all these years later, coming out of a pandemic of all things!" Indeed, Louise herself has been an unfailing beacon of hope for those who hold country music in their hearts over the last eighteen months, with recent singles such as You'll Be Mine and Who Did You Call Darlin' serving as happy reminders of better times. And, as we inch our way ever-closer to the return of those 'good old days',
Louise is looking forward to joining her fellow legends of the Irish country scene, John Hogan and Declan Nerney, on the latter's nationwide concert tour in 2022. Before then, though, there's the July 9th release of WE RISE AGAIN to get ready for. That will be followed on July 17th by the exclusive premiere of the single's Steve Bloor produced video - which was filmed on-location on Achill Island recently - on Louise's official Facebook page. And, throughout it all, the lady whose mantlepiece has had to find room for accolades that include Female Entertainer of the Year, Best Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, and even a Lifetime Achievement Award, will continue to invite fans to have 'lunch with Louise' on her Tipp Mid-West radio show of that name every Friday afternoon. "I'm so lucky to be able to live a life that has music at its very heart. And there are so many people who help to make that possible for me. There are too many to thank, that's the truth of it. But my gratitude for every last one of them is endless. From everyone I work with within the industry, my colleagues on stage and those who work in other areas, to the fans, the people who make it all possible. I've missed them all so much and can't wait to be able to see everyone in person again. But in the meantime, and until then, WE RISE AGAIN is my reminder to all of them that we WILL see each other again. And that we will...RISE AGAIN."
